information at this point. they're saying the woman was a female in her 40s. now, the 911 came in yesteay as a shooting. this all happened yesterday afternoon at an apartment on greenbelt road. teenagers noticed an arm coming from the doorway to one of the buildings. they took a closer look and saw there was an injured woman. >> t call was for an unresponsive female. >> reporter: apparently two phone calls yesterday. police got a phone call about a welfare chec they were called to check on the welfare of the victim and not long after they got a phoneall about this shoing. what came across as a shooting. they're not saying that's how she passed away but they're still trying to answer a lot of

eun? >> elaine, thank you. and this morning the search is on for the murderer who killed a man at a bus stop. it happened after sunset along 900 block of southern avenue southeast. the man was shot several times and died on the keep. police do not have a lot to go on in this case. they only have a vague description of the gunman. this morning a woman is lucky to be alive so she can breathe a big sigh of reef after firefighters rescued her from her burning townhome. chopper 4 was on the scene over the damage. flames brock out on 9,000 block of brookridge court, montgomery village. firefighters used a lad tore rescue the woman from a sond floor window. the fire began in the kitchen. dama is estimated at $100,000. well, the first woman virginia could excuse the first woman in nearly 100 ears. it's scheduled to go on as planned tomorrow night. the u.s. supreme court refused to stay the execution.

teresa lewis received the death sentence after she was convicted of hiring two men to kill her husband and stepson back 2002. she was allegedly trying to collect a quarter million dollar insurance payout. lewis's supporters say she should be spared because she has diminished mentalcapacity. governor mcdonald denied clemency. the last woman to be executed in virginia happened in 1912.

this morning we know when d.c. schools chancellor michelle rhee and democratic nominee vincent gray will meet. the long-awaited meeting will happen tomorrow at noon in gray's office in the wilson building. rhee has come under fire for closing schools and firing teachers and principals in the district. gray said he will continue aggressive education reform and that may or may not include rhee. this morning, another shakeup on president obama's economic team. adviser larry summers iset to leave the post by the end of the year. summers will return to his teaching job at harvard. the departure comes amid a sluggish economic recovery that has seen unemployment hover near 10%. he will be the third high-level member of the obama economic team to leave this ar. a new book suggests members of president obama's national security team has doubts his strategy in afghanistan will work. journalist bob woodward details intense policy and turf battles inside the white house called "obama war." he said the president agreed to triple troop levels there.

because she has had issues with people coming and taking some of the stuff away. now, she's worked for many years here in america. she's an immigrant from venezuela. she's been here 22 years. when work dried up, so did the mey for the representative. first of all, where is she going to live? she has no place to go. secondly, what is she going to do with all of her stuff? 50-year-old eloisa diaz who lived here 22 years and her home in northwest for 15 years. she said for the last two and a half years she's not been able to have steady work, and the work has dried up causing her eviction. >> i do not have a job. i try to get a little here, a

little there but it's not regular eight-hour work. and i do my best 100% to prove how much i pay every month. i pay july. i just don't have-- nothing at all. >> reporter: she said her possessions that line the streets are not junk. the things worked and paid for and she wants tokeep and protect it but doesn't know now. >> i need desperately for people to help me get a truck. right now i have no income. >> reporter: it goes oat sxis 11 on both sides on the street. council member graham came and picked up two pickup truck loads worth of her most valuable things. she told me earlier that stuff is being stored in southeast. some neighbors brought a couple items to try to help her out.

now she is worried what will happen at 10:00 a.m. when the trash trucks come. tracee wilkins, live in northwest. back to you in the studio. this morning police are looking for a second suspect who stand and robbed a man in prince william county. it happened outside the cant canterbury shopping center. two teens attacked the man while he was working, appraising the property. he was taking tickets when the teens approach him, demanded his camera, cell phone and wallet. they kicked and beat him in the stomach. we're told the victim is in stable condition. investigators are digging deeper into what drove a man to shoot a doctor and kill his mother and himself at john hopkins hospital. during the search of his home they found another handgun. no signs that the crime was premeditated. wit six weeks to go, a new

poll shows the race for maryland is neck and neck. governor martin o'maley has a lead over former governor bob ehrlich. however, the margin of error for the poll is 4%, making it a dead heat. a senior editor for the political report says the poll is actually good news forboth candidates. 50/47 is a three-point split, but essentially the race is tied. if i'm the o'maley campaign, one of the thgs i take positive out of that poll is he is at 50%. that means thathrlich needso chip away at his support. but this is not an uphill race. this race is tied. >> o'malley started runni ads in win over voters. ehrlich said he will wait until later to start running tevision spot traffic alert for drives who use i-270 in the early morning

hours. all four lanes of 270 will be shut down at the diamond avenue exit overnight into tomorrow morning. it will last for two 15-minute intervals. the state highway administration suggests using 355 as an alternate route. during the closures crews will be putting up an overhead sign. go car free today. people from around the world are leaving their cars, trucks, and suvs in the garage. instead, they are walking and taking public transportation to work. organizers say the move is to push city planners and cycling to think about other transportation alternatives. looks like people are already going car free. metro was up 2% between april and june, compared with the same period last year. public transportation ridership is also up nationwide. well, the redskins running game is taking another hit. after two games, they parted way

they apart releasing the woman's identity or how she died. they're onlyaying she's a female in her 40s. prince george's county police not releasing a whole lot of informati other than tha now, the 911 call came in yesterday as a shooting. it happened yesterday afternoon at an apartment complex in the 8500 block of greenbelt road. teenagers noticed an arm coming out of a door to one of the ildings. they took a closer look and saw it was an injured woman with some type of trauma to her body police arrived shortly thereafter and she was taken to a hospital where she wa pronounced dead on the scene. >> at this time it does not appear to be a robbery. we are still lookingor a motive in the case. >> reporter: police say they did get another phone call about a welfare check on the victim. they're stillrying to piece together this case. they're not saying if the

newsroom. >> good morning again, joe. prince george's county police have a murder mystery on their hands this morning. a woman wasilled yesterday in the middle of the afternoon on greenbelt road. she was found in the stairwell of an apartment complex with potentially self witnesses to help police with their investigation. he's just a draltic nominee for d.c. mayor but already vincent gray is pounded by questions about whether or not he will keep michelle rhee. the two will meet thursday at noon in gray's office. gray told news 4 he'll continue to push for aggressive education reform a that may or may not include rhee. debate over the military don't ask, don't tell policy is ead for now. senate republicans blocked an appeal to lift a ban on gays serving openly in the military. leader harry reid said he will raise the issue again after the november election. remember the city manager with an $800,000 salary in a

the last two and a half years she only had a scattering of work, really not enoh to sustain her. she's domestic worker. she said since july she has not been able to make rent. momentsgo w got a phone call from the folks at j.k. moving and storage in sterling saying they were coming here to move all her stuff, store it for free, move it for free and pack it for free. this was her reaction. >> god is good. he knows what's going on. and i appreciate so much that i find help. >> reporter: now, the manager is down there ands he realizes she has a 10:00 a.m. the city said they would come haul this off with trash trucks so they are quickly making their way up here.
